VIP Support Engineer- Permanent - London

Are you an energetic and talented Senior Desktop Support Engineer with experience of providing VIP support to the most senior stakeholders in an organisation? Are you able to build excellent relationships quickly, and win trust with senior executive stakeholders?

In this role, you provide desktop and technical to support our major client's Executive Leadership team and Board Members. You will be the face of the Group Technology function to the senior leadership team, assisting them with the use of technology which includes desktop, Wi-Fi, connectivity, Office 365, AV and telecoms. The role will involve working across the business, working with the different technology teams and technology suppliers to ensure that staff experience a VIP technology service, delivered seamlessly. You are a great communicator and you understand the pressures that senior stakeholders face; you understand Executives' use of technology and how VIP needs differ.

In addition, you will be part of 'The Support Bar' in Head Office. This is a team of highly approachable, technical customer orientated people who help staff to get the most out the technology tools that we provide.

What you will do:

  • Build trusted relationships with the VIPs; partnering with the Group CIO technology teams and their GCIO leadership to support them.
  • To provide 1st and 2nd Line VIP IT support to the Executive team and Board Members (VIPs). The technology will span areas such as desktop support (Windows 7/10), various in-house desktop applications (O365, Intranet), networks (LAN, WAN & Wi-Fi), hardware (desktop, laptop, mobile devices, printers and copiers, video conferencing, audio-visual equipment and telecoms).
  • Takes ownership for, and drives through, any technology problem or incident raised by, or involving, the VIP, ensuring timely and appropriate updates are made to VIPs through the life of the incidents or problems.
  • Work effectively in the Support Bar team - although dedicated to VIP support, there may be times where the person is required to support non VIPs depending upon overall VIP workload.
  • Regularly meets with each VIP to proactively address any issues and arrange, or perform, any technology training that the VIP feels would be useful.
  • Assist VIP visitors with technology usage.
  • Fully understand the preferred technology stack of each VIP and work closely with the GCIO technology teams to ensure its delivery -this will include Executives and Board member home technology requirements and configurations
  • Ensure that technology utilised in any meeting hosted by the VIP is working and configured before the meeting starts.
  • Assists remotely and on-site, using the relevant tools to provide VIP support.
  • Logging of requests, support calls and escalating where appropriate on behalf of VIPs which will include the logging of faults to 3rd party suppliers and escalating as required.
  • Is available out of hours if required to help with issues.


Your experience will include:

  • Experienced in working in a large and complex corporate environment.
  • Prior experience of working in a VIP support role.
  • Desktop support experience (Microsoft Windows).
  • Desktop hardware experience, including setup, and trouble shooting.
  • Excellent Interpersonal skills - able to work and communicate effectively at all levels across the organisation.
  • Excellent writing verbal, presentation skills.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills.
  • An excellent collaborative working style.
  • Excellent Stakeholder Management and relationship building skills.
  • Comfortable to work under their own autonomy.
