We are Recruiting for a Test Manager on behalf of a FTSE 250 company on a permanent basis based in Sheffield, paying between £40,000 - £50,000 per annum.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage teams of Test Analysts across a number of sites (including offshore), through dedicated Test Leads, to achieve successful deliveries of project / test items (measured against agreed acceptance criteria).
  • Work with peers and stakeholders, to ensure robust testing and defect management processes / documentation are developed and maintained across all test teams. to ensure a consistent approach across all systems and projects.
  • Accountable for the adherence by the testing team to test management work instructions and control documentation
  • Ensure development plans and individual objectives are put in place,reviewed and actioned for all team members to achieve fully multi skilled test teams across all products/systems and types of delivery, to enable a fully flexible team of test resources.
  • Work with the wider test teams to identify and address areas for improvement and, in conjunction with other Test Managers, build a continuous improvement plan for the Business Solutions test practice (utilising industry best practice where appropriate).
  • Build solid relationships across the business with key stakeholders, including IT teams, Implementation teams, project managers, sales teams and business analysts, ensuring all stakeholders fully understand our test proposition.
  • Ensure that demand and capacity views remain up to date and accurate across all teams, and availability and conflicts are identified early with mitigating actions agreed and put in place, or issues escalated to the Head of Delivery.
  • Manage the use of relevant testing software across the teams, including test tools and test and defect management software (ALM and others as appropriate). Ensure they are used consistently and in the best way for efficient testing, and to be cost effective to realise identified benefits. Identify potential opportunities for test automation with appropriate tooling and embed as appropriate.
  • Document and maintain the Transition and Change Test Policy, ensuring full buy in from all stakeholders across the business and within the test team.
  • Lead the development of bid and planning inputs specific to test activities, ensuring a robust methodology is in place to inform bids and project plans and sign off the inputs as accurate, to allow the Head of Delivery to sign off bid quotes.
  • Accountable for the timely provision of consistent MI/reporting relating to all test activities (progress against the agreed plan, variances between planned and actual effort/duration, defect summary and highlighting any risks or issues affecting the progress or completion of the testing requirement for the project) for dissemination to internal and external stakeholders, to ensure full visibility of test activities is achieved at all times.
  • Deal directly with clients to provide assurance of our processes and approach and take accountability for client delivery and issue resolution where escalation is required.
  • Responsible for Testing sign-offs and recommendations to Go / No-Go meetings
  • Act as an authorisation point (with Test Leads) for Job Requests and promotion of code into test environments
  • Responsible for recruitment into the testing team
  • Ensure lessons learned activities are undertaken and lessons are built into the test approach and processes for all projects.

Key tasks

  • Manage, lead and shape the test teams across a range of sites.
  • Approve Test Strategies and Master Test Plans written by the Test team, or create/document them for the largest/most critical projects
  • Identify and introduce best practice.
  • Develop our people to achieve departmental and project goals.
  • Ensure consistency and accuracy of management information, including content and format, provided to internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure time is recorded accurately and in a timely way in the time recording system across the test team.

ISTQB Qualification is essential for this role.

Experience within the Financial Services Sector is Essential for this role with any Pensions/Employee Benefits experience highly desirable.
