Our customer is one of the largest British companies in the world and operates a major service partnership for a Central Government agency. Due to expanded growth within the partnership, our customer is now looking to build and recruit a new Service Support function. The role will be based working from home, however, after lockdown there may be a need to be based out of office location local to Manchester.

The nature of the role will be to take ownership of and be the technical authority for specific systems and technologies, ensuring the continuous and smooth operation of the IT infrastructure, including out of hours cover and support for critical systems.

In particular to support and administer business applications, software, infrastructure, network, security and authentications systems, ensuring the highest level of data security is applied at all times.

Candidates must experience in providing 3rd line IT support as a minimum.

Role Overview:

  • Ensure that technical and business knowledge is shared amongst team members, taking advantage of all opportunities to increase the knowledge levels of IT colleagues therefore increasing their ability to support the services.
  • Co-ordinate and supervise all third parties carrying out work upon company IT and Telecommunications systems
  • Assist and support all users of the IT and telecommunications systems used by the company, primarily as three line support, but as 1st and 2nd line as required
  • Liaise with other managers, give advice and guidance so that their staff can use the IT systems in line with company policy.
  • Support the day to day running of the monitoring suite of software and associated systems.
  • Ensure all computer based company information is backed up in accordance with our contractual obligations.
  • Ensure all software used by the business is licenced or fully compliant with EULAs
  • Ensure any changes to systems are authorised and documented and/or that the Head of IT is made aware that updates to the documentation is required.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Systems Administrator with strong experience of the below technologies:

  • Large server estate experience
  • Knowledge of Intel server and back office platforms
  • Microsoft AD and Email\Exchange
  • Microsoft SQL, including replication
  • Network Management
  • ITIL Foundation
  • Windows Client/Server, AD, GPO, DNS, DHCP, WSUS, MDT
  • Exchange 2013
  • Mail Filtering
  • Endpoint protection

This is a Monday to Friday based role, however on call allowance will be provided.

Potential candidates must be eligible to gain BPSS and SC Clearance. Previous, or current clearance is seen as highly desirable.
