Service Desk Engineer

Capita IT Resourcing are looking for an experienced Service Desk Engineer to join a MSP based in Uxbridge. You'll be providing 2nd line support as well as some 3rd line. If you have an love for IT, troubleshooting, IT service delivery, finding root causes (RCA), improving procedures and automation implementation then this will be the role for you!

The key responsibilities of a Service Desk Engineer include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring maximum performance and up-time for all managed systems, maximum customer satisfaction and accurate issue / ticket logging and tracking

  • Safeguarding MSP and customer data in line with established Policies and NDAs

  • Meeting and/or exceeding service desk performance targets and SLAs

  • Ensuring documentation is maintained for everything

  • Ensuring any service desk escalations are dealt with promptly and precisely

  • Ensuring monitoring on network and server infrastructure is setup and reporting correctly

  • Responding to monitoring alerts

  • Performing root cause analysis, corrective action and preventative action for issues

  • Identifying opportunities for automation throughout the support structure and implement using available tools

  • Installing network equipment, as well as hardware and OS servers to vendor best practice as well as agreed MSP standard, before handover to 3rd line and Solutions Team

  • Implementing products and solutions according to vendor best practice

Skills

  • 5+ years supporting users and infrastructure in an Active Directory based business / enterprise network, ideally with multiple sites. Please note that applications with less than

3 years' experience will not be taken forward.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and can work as part of a team

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information in a simple manner clearly over the phone, in person or email

  • A punctual, reliable and dependable individual who is able to self-motivate to deliver results

  • Calm under high-pressure situations and can maintain and focus their results
