Senior Project Manager

We are Recruiting for a Senior Project Manager for a Defence Client in Barrow on an initial 3 month contract, paying up to £520 a day Umbrella /Ltd.

Job responsibilities

  • An extensive understanding of mainstream Project Management methodologies, such as Prince 2 and a knowledge of methodologies such as BSPM, Agile, Kanban
  • The management of simple programmes, complex projects or complex sub projects, typically (but not exclusively) involving the development and implementation of infrastructure technology solutions and business processes to meet identified business needs, acquiring and utilising the necessary resources and skills, within agreed parameters of cost, timescales, and quality
  • Defines, documents and delivers large to very large projects, typically
    • Twelve months and more in duration
    • Delivered with an on-account, cross tower, matrix managed team, off-account team and with 3rd Parties
    • Managed Time and Material budget or managed Fixed Price budget
    • Significant strategic impact
    • High to very high complexity and usually with a business change element
    • Usually with fixed deadlines or high profile impact
    • Active participation in all phases from Project Definition, Project Delivery and Project Close
  • Identifies, assesses and manages risks and issues to the success of the project using formal risk management techniques
  • Prepares realistic project and quality plans and tracks activities against the plans, providing regular and accurate reports to stakeholders as appropriate
  • Monitors costs, timescales and resources used, and takes action where these deviate from agreed tolerances, looking for opportunities for efficiencies
  • Produces accurate and timely project invoices
  • Ensures that projects are formally closed and where appropriate, subsequently reviewed, and that lessons learned are recorded
  • Required to support the PMO and where required, Programme Managers and Portfolio Managers to ensure that the products required are produced to the standard of quality expected
  • Responsible for ensuring the appropriate level of governance is followed
  • Provide support and mentorship to members of the project team and project delivery organisation as a whole
  • Produce fully scoped and costed proposals for delivery projects following discovery projects
  • Advises and updates available standards, methods, tools and applications relevant to own specialism and can make appropriate choices from alternatives
