As a Senior Network Analyst, you will be responsible for supporting and assisting in the technical design and architecture of the Managed Services infrastructure, according to internal and external customer requirements. The core network is centred around a multi-tenanted, multi-site datacentre(s). All customer sites are connected to the core via a multitude of WAN links using a variety of technologies. This position provides a successful candidate an opportunity to enhance their datacentre networking knowledge, as well as utilising a specialist working tool set of WAN technologies. The role is primarily focused on supporting these environments. The role is dedicated to health customers; therefore, a knowledge of UK Health compliance is beneficial.
Working within a Managed Service provider in the Healthcare industry it is imperative to understand that the systems being designed, deployed and supported can carry significant Clinical Risk and should be dealt with in an appropriate manner. Whilst designing, maintaining and improving the Capita ITES Health's' customers' networking infrastructure. All decisions should be in line with Capita Corporate Standard Process and Industry best practices. Which will ultimately provide a stable environment for secure transfer of data from within datacentres to end customers either on the Internet, N3 or via MPLS connections.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide day to day support for both internal and customer network infrastructure via incident, problem or change management processes.
  • Assisting TDA's and Consultants in the Design and development of network infrastructure.
  • Participate in meetings with staff, third party service providers and customers as required. Promoting the image of Capita Managed Services Health by contributing in a positive, helpful and professional manner.
  • Working out of hours and on call as required.
  • Strong documentation skills.
  • Ensure all projects are delivered in a timely fashion escalating all risks and issues appropriately minimising impact to deliverables and scope creep.
  • Ensuring both internal and external connections are appropriately configured adhering to HSCIC / NHS Digital rules and guidance in relation to Information Governance of N3 connections.
  • Ability to work and contribute as a senior member of a technical team with colleagues from different technical domains.
  • Proactively contribute to operations management, including suggesting ad-hoc technology improvements and processes.
  • Ensure a stable environment through following best practice by:
  • Installing patches, updates and hotfixes on a scheduled basis or ad hoc basis as appropriate
  • Ensure security of the environment by understanding the implications of change management process
  • CMDB is kept up to date.
  • Ensure all systems are monitored and alerts are in place to be able to respond to any form of degradation of systems that may jeopardise application availability, latency or performance that has an impact on end users.



Technical Attributes:
A professional network orientated qualification and/or a minimum of five years' experience.

The following skills are essential:

  • Experienced in the maintenance and configuration of firewalls. Experience in planning successful firewall migrations would be a plus.
  • A good understanding of how packets are switched and routed in a LAN/WAN environment
  • Ability to identify and successfully diagnose/troubleshoot networking issues in a Datacentre LAN/WAN environment using appropriate tools and techniques
  • Experience working with some of the following vendors is desirable:
  • Palo Alto / Extreme / Juniper
  • VMware ESXi 6.x / NSX
  • Microsoft Azure
  • MS Windows server technologies
  • Netscaler / F5
  • Confident in supporting and troubleshooting issues across Network technologies including, but not limited to:
  • BGP, OSPF
  • EAPS, MLAG, LAG
  • Service or application-based firewall policies, User Access Control
  • Ability to support and demonstrate complimentary Infrastructure technologies:
  • Infrastructure - DDI (DNS, DHCP, IPAM), Load balancing, RAS, Radius, 2FA
  • Monitoring - SNMP, Syslog, Protocol Analysis
  • Compliance - ISO 27001, HSCIC/NHS Digital
  • Any previous experience working in the Public or private health sectors.
  • Experience of analysing network, dynamic routing, firewall change requirements. For both technical deployment and risk analysis.
  • ITIL awareness and ability to work to and implement process. Such as Change control.
  • Adhere to Capita standard practice and operating methodologies.
