Senior Licence, Asset & Configuration Manager - £55k

A fantastic new opportunity has opened for a Senior Licence, Asset/Configuration Manager to join a market leading technology firm whilst working from home with 1 or 2 days expensed travel to Coventry. My client delivers a portfolio of IT infrastructure and network solutions covering everything from strategic and technical consulting, through to full outsourced solutions which is all inclusive of the ITIL Strategy. They're currently one of the top five providers in the industry, and a market leader within the UK public sector with the number one market share in local government, education and health whilst implementing an ITIL strategy.

The key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Create, review and update the Asset Management Policy and Asset Management Process which defines the lifecycle of all Assets.
  • Define scope of the asset management processes, function, the items that are to be controlled, and the information that is to be recorded
  • Evaluate existing asset management systems and the design, implementation and management of new/improved systems for efficiency and effectiveness
  • Manage Asset Management tools
  • License Management
  • Ensure that all contracts and licenses are reviewed and renewed in a timely manner
  • Update SNOW to reflect changes to any contracts or licenses
  • Perform license reconciliation in SNOW
  • Maintain records of contracts and licenses renewed, evidence of purchase, T&Cs, software keys etc
  • Define scope of the configuration management processes, function, the items that are to be controlled, and the information that is to be recorded
  • Develop configuration management standards, configuration management plans and procedures
  • Document the current enterprise-level baseline configuration of each platform (operating systems, databases, middleware, enterprise applications, etc.) within the environment.
  • Document configuration settings for information technology products employed within the information system.
  • Identify and document any deviations from established configuration settings.
  • Periodically review the use of functions, ports, protocols, and services.
  • Develop and document an inventory of information system components that accurately reflects the current systems for which our division is responsible, includes all components within the customer Estate, the information necessary to achieve effective infrastructure component accountability and is at the level of granularity deemed necessary for tracking and reporting.
  • Employ automated mechanisms to detect the presence of unauthorized hardware, software, and firmware.
  • Create, review and update the Configuration Management Policy and Configuration Management Process and ensure that they are adhered to.
  • Establish restrictions on the use of open source software (OSS).
  • Evaluate existing configuration management systems and the design, implementation and management of new/improved systems for efficiency and effectiveness
  • Populate, update, amend and ensure regular administrative and technical housekeeping of the CMDB
  • Perform configuration audits to check that the physical IT inventory is consistent with the Asset Register and CMDB and initiate any necessary corrective action Number, record, store and distribute asset and configuration management issues

What will you need?

  • Strong Software Asset Management background
  • Great ITIL Working knowledge
  • Good software licensing and configuration management experience
  • Ideally knowledge of and experience using the SNOW asset management system
  • Experience in managing projects using recognised methodologies
  • Experience of mentoring and leading a small team
  • Excellent Microsoft Office Skills (Word, Excel and Power Point)
  • Demonstrate competence in oral and written communication, including being able to present.
  • Proven ability to lead an engagement, workshop or present to an ITAM and management audience
  • Able to deal with customers/suppliers/peers at all levels in a professional manner
  • The ability to prioritise effectively, both with their own workload and within the team
  • Understand business issues and identify and articulate solutions
  • Acceptance of change and being open minded to new methods in the ever-changing industry
  • Ability to act promptly and decisively when dealing with problems
