Senior Networking Engineer - Birmingham - £35k + Car and Benefits

My client who are an award winning solutions provider based in the west midlands require an Network Engineer to join their Fantastic team. The role is based from their head office but you will be required for field service activities, covering various routing and switching equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for designing and delivering multi-site MPLS VPN solutions carrying both voice and data traffic.
  • Managing multiple installations at any one time, with each project duration ranging from 1 week to 9 months. Managing each project from initial order through to completion.
  • Configuring switches, routers & firewalls to support converged voice and data networks with VLANS and QoS.
  • Supporting customers with their site to site VPNs and VOIP links, including SIP Trunks.
  • Provisioning and supporting ADSL/FTTC/EFM/Fibre Ethernet circuits, liaising with 3rd Party carriers both for project and support purposes, and utilizing escalation processes when required.
  • Handling support calls and emails from our varied customers ensuring customer SLA's are met or exceeded, by accurately logging incidents, problems, moves and additions onto the central case management system working from the support desk.
  • Liaising with service suppliers for fault management resolution and the provision new access circuits.
  • Provide technical support to the internal sales team.
  • Be a valued member of the Service Delivery Strategy Team attending regular meetings with the Management Team.
  • Liaising with MPS Networks 3rd party suppliers and channel partners.
  • Procurement of hardware from suppliers & distributors, including submitting deal registration bids to key partner vendors like Cisco.
  • Provide out of hours support on a Rota and/or flexible basis.


  • Valid Cisco accreditation in CCNA Routing and Switching.
  • Experience with Project Management.
  • Sound knowledge in Microsoft Office suite including Microsoft Visio and Project.
  • Troubleshooting network LAN/WAN problems through to resolution.
  • Troubleshooting Internet & WAN Access circuits, specifically ADSL & FTTC circuits.
  • Experience with Cisco, HP and DrayTek routers/switches.
  • Experience with networking infrastructure (switching, routing, VLANs, Firewalls, Wireless)
  • Experience with Wireless Solution partners (Cisco, Meraki, Huawei)
  • Experience with Firewalls & VPN (Cisco ASA, Draytek, Sonicwall)
  • Liaising with suppliers for faults and escalating when applicable.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in an IT Networks support related role.
