2 Payroll assistants required by our leading public sector client in Bristol.
These roles will be 6-month contracts.

Proven previous experience working in an accounting environment

Role activities:
To manage (Officer) or support (Assistant) aspects of the monthly financial / management accounting processes that support the wider business to deliver its objectives.
Prepare and deliver timely and accurate financial statements to senior managers, in line with business requirements and both statutory and regulatory duties, to agreed deadlines, including supporting documentation to audit standard.

Provide regular written analysis that summarises and analyses financial activity, including the identification and explanation for variances.
Manage and coordinate the completion of balance sheet reconciliations, to agreed timetables, ensuring that they accurately reflect activity.

Provide support to the business to include policy development, planning, performance, service delivery and governance.

Research, draft, develop, collate, co-ordinate and disseminate management information, policies, reports, briefings and business plans (as required).

Provide oral briefings, to non-financial staff, including senior management on specific aspects of financial and management accounting.

Collate the annual training requirements and prepare a costed training plan for Senior Management; report achievement against the plan in graphic and numeric format (as required).

Ensure the quality, secure handling and dissemination of data/information, maintaining confidentiality, sensitivity and a duty of care in line with NCA policy.

Build good working relationships with both internal and external partners.

Provide administrative support to the business area to include the preparation of documents, typing and co-ordinating departmental correspondence, arranging meetings, diary management, minute taking, maintain, develop and review office systems/processes, travel bookings including accommodation/car reservations, organise events and raise purchase orders in support of departmental procurement activity

Maintain accurate and up to date records for management information purposes, using IT systems to record (e.g. absence, security, finance, training, and equipment inventories (as appropriate).

Carry out effective file management and ensure compliance with corporate filing/records administration and Agency policy.

Prepare, edit, publish and disseminate documentation and materials (as appropriate).

Act as the departmental single point of contact (SPOC) in support of team projects (as appropriate).

Facilitate requests for publications and maintain relevant distribution lists.

Support departmental website design and ensure the site is kept up to date.

Skills and experience:

A general awareness and knowledge of accounting policies and practices.
Proven numeric skills.
Information technology skills including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Written/drafting skills.
Analytical skills/data interpretation skills.
Organisational, administrative skills.
Experience of effectively working as part of a team.
Proven experience of administration, or working in an accounting environment.
