Middleware Specialist required by our leading client in Aldershot to be responsible for designing and implementing the project middleware solution (for development, testing, certification, QA, production, training etc, environments as necessary), by influencing and supporting the Solution Design. The candidate is expected to own and develop the long-term middleware strategy of the complex solution, whilst supporting and implementing the current product design.
This role is not customer facing role in the main, however participation in design and implementation reviews with the customer internal and external will be required.
You will be expected to be hands-on when required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide Technical Delivery support to internal and external customers in accordance with the terms of the customer contract and Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
  • Carry out incident and problem management support to the highest standards and co-ordinate the resolution with the appropriate resolver groups
  • Proactively detect problems related to service and infrastructure operations and delivery services, conduct diagnostics and provide service request ownership to ensure resolution of customer problems
  • Adhere to installation guidelines and industry best practices in order to deliver quality service and infrastructure operations
  • Use the appropriate tools and equipment to perform the installation, intervention, and repairs in accordance with the Technical Delivery and Delivery guidelines and instructions where provided
  • Report and escalate to the next level those problems which cannot be fixed
  • Perform tests on hardware and software components and be responsible for the co-ordination of acceptance testing between different parties
  • Perform change management, configurations, design and implementation of the supported products and systems
  • Conduct the analysis, definition, documentation and testing of application and system enhancements

Experience, Knowledge & Skills

  • Setup and manage middleware including carrying out support / administrative tasks such as Queue Manager, Channel & Queue setups, scripting, automations
  • General technical troubleshooting and giving technical expert consultation to SITA teams
  • Setup and maintain documentation and standards including providing consulting expertise on detailed Installation Instructions and Managed Service Guides
  • Knowledge of Message flow architecture.
  • For complex issues work with the vendors / 3rd party providers to ensure issues are fixed in a time-bound manner
  • Good knowledge of Linux and Windows platforms
  • Basic network configuration like port and IP, UDP, TCP etc.
  • Channels creation and management, different type of queues and their management, topics and subscriptions management
  • Knowledge of connection factories
  • Configuration of persistence store
  • an understanding of open messaging standards such as AMQP
  • a background knowledge of MSMQ, ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ and integration of disperse messaging transports
  • an understanding of JMS
  • an understanding of automation tools, such as Ansible
