MI Team Lead

My market leading client based in central Edinburgh are looking for an MI Team Lead to oversee a large HR Reporting and Systems team. This role will interact directly with their major client, a global, blue-chip financial services company. Working within a HR Service Centre environment, this role is responsible for managing and supporting a team providing high quality data analysis and report production service. The Service Centre provides responses to a high volume of HR data requests, queries and problem cases related to HR reporting.

Working as a key member of the team in the delivering the service, the Team Leader is responsible for ensuring the quality of output and meeting service specifications, being the key contact for HR reporting. You must possess excellent management skills and be able to plan and prioritise workload and conflicting priorities.

Key responsibilities

Reporting

  • Effectively manage service issues/failures and take appropriate corrective action to minimise risk of re-occurrence.
  • Create, enhance and maintain current data processes in Workday, SAP and Excel (for example: Regular monthly metrics, diversity metrics).
  • Responsible for ad-hoc analysis and miscellaneous reporting for HR business partners and BU.
  • Ability to ask relevant follow-up questions to requestors and fully scope out data requests.
  • Create and maintain governance procedures, managing risk and business assurance.
  • Understand downstream impacts of reports and requests.
  • Ensure all requests are handled in line with SLAs.
  • Support and upskill team members.

People Management

  • Assign work to team members, monitor and supervise the day-to-day delivery and quality standards of the work.
  • Meet with individual team members monthly to review performance, provide constructive feedback and identify and agree on future objectives, assessing against the competency framework.
  • Provide effective coaching to team members in the required technical and behavioural competencies.
  • Actively monitor attendance and absence undertaking return to work interviews and implement absence management procedures as necessary.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the team is effectively resourced including the recruitment and selection of new employees.
  • Responsible to co-ordinate the induction of new team members and ensure compliance with required core training.
  • Actively monitor overall team performance and identify areas for improvement and encourage an innovative approach to the customer service provision.

Quality

  • Monitor team performance against expectations and Service Level Agreements.
  • Stakeholder focus; able to provide accurate information in a timely fashion.
  • Adhere to the business assurance standards.
  • Report any potential variances to expected team performance to Operations Manager.
  • Produce monthly statistical MI data and comparison against SLA to identify and report on any variances.

Essential Experience

  • Experience in an analytical/reporting role, ideally within HR.
  • Previous experience in a management position where responsibilities included operational and people supervision of a team.

Skills

  • Expert Excel and MS Access skills with advanced VBA & SQL.
  • Workday reporting experience highly desirable.
  • Experienced in the use of business intelligence tools such as Business Objects, Tableau, Power Query etc.
  • Excellent analytical skills (able to develop and produce meaningful reports from multiple streams of data).
  • Excellent communications skills; Verbal & written.
  • Thorough attention to detail.
  • Excellent prioritisation skills (able to handle multiple tasks and projects at the same time).
  • Enjoys high volume, fast paced and dynamic environment.
  • Experience of managing stakeholders at a senior level.
