Project Manager required by our leading client in Sheffield to be responsible for the end-to-end project management and professional implementation of IT solutions. Strong team work and analytical problem solving skills are required to ensure effective delivery of projects.

They will plan and resource a wide variety of customer projects, liaising internally with members of the Service Delivery team, Account Managers, Technical Architects and externally with customers and third party suppliers. They will be responsible for building and maintaining strong working relationships with the client representatives and all team members and will can manage expectations.

Throughout project planning and project implementation it will be the responsibility of the Project Manager to provide information on progress to the Programme Director, Customer, project stakeholders and operations staff as necessary.

The Project Manager is expected to be an effective, assured leader who inspires confidence and respect from the internal teams, customers and suppliers. An effective Project Manager goes beyond traditional Project Management skills. They build strong interpersonal relationships and convey personal effectiveness to achieve their goals.

The person

  • Project Management in a Matrix delivery environment
  • Knowledge of Project Management Tools and methodlogy (e.g. MS Project, Visio, Agile, SDLC etc.) with an understanding of Project Management Disciplines
  • Ability to perform project planning, resource planning and risk assessment
  • Strong ability to independently define tasks and develop sequencing and timelines for complex changes
  • Strong ability to create documentation and plans
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong ability to collaborate across Global business and IT groups, build relationships and manage effectively in a matrix organization
  • Ability to manage project change control and ensure proposed changes are analysed, assessed and controlled
  • Strong customer service focus and aptitude
  • Ability demonstrate ownership of issues from inception to resolution

Key Responsibilities

  • Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with Senior Management & Stakeholders
  • Identify internal and external resources, whether financial or human, to deliver the project successfully
  • Evaluate the progress of projects on regular basis and take proactive steps to resolve any risks or issues
  • Set and continually manage realistic and practical goals for the project.
  • Develop full scale project plans and associated communications documents PIDs etc.
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, documentation and presentations
  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project teams
  • Deliver release/go live successfully
  • Set and manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders
  • Identify and manage project dependencies and critical paths
  • Scrutinise and challenge project development and delivery to ensure that outputs effectively contribute to project benefits and align with strategic objectives
