iSeries Support Consultant (iSeries/Power i/AS400) - £45k + on-call

Capita IT Resourcing is partnered with a leading Managed Service Provider (MSP) in their search for an iSeries Support Consultant to join them on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will join an existing team and will hold joint responsibility for transition of new platforms and services, resolving faults, incidents and problems and perform approved changes across the iSeries / Power i / AS400 customer base. The team's objective is to ensure that the clients are provided with excellence in iSeries / Power i / AS400 systems support and management. Collaboration and communication within the team and with other parts of the business is key to ensure knowledge transfer and continuity of service.

Main responsibilities for the iSeries Support Consultant role:
- Ensuring that customers incident, change & requests tickets are managed in a professional consistent manner
- Working closely with other team members to ensure customer satisfaction
- Ensuring processes are being followed
- Ensuring documentation is current and up to date.
- Perform operating system upgrades and installation of patches and fixes (PTFs)
- Perform problem analysis and documentation, root-cause analysis, and create incident reports
- Perform detailed troubleshooting for complex system issues
- Perform design, creation, implementation of custom CL scripts for automation as/where needed
- Perform migrations and due-diligence documentation for new customers
- Work with IBM, Syncsort (MIMIX) and other hardware and software vendors to resolve customer issues
- Provide on-call support in a defined rota
- Perform platform-specific technical tasks including installation and commissioning of new Power i systems and changes to existing iSeries/Power i/AS400 infrastructure

Main requirements for the iSeries Support Consultant role:
- Ensure customer incidents are resolved within SLA
- Represent relevant changes at the CAB
- Ensure technical documentation is kept up to date
- Ensuring regular customer reports are completed in a timely manner
- Writing and implementing operations procedures
- Interact with customers and vendors in a professional and collaborative manner
- Ensuring first rate customer service and promoting service excellence
- Ensuring processes are being followed
- Ensuring that customers incident, change and requests tickets are completed professionally and managed in a consistent manner

Key skills and experience for the iSeries Support Consultant role:
- Previous experience in a senior technical role primarily focussed on iSeries/Power i/AS400
- Previous experience in a managed services or service provider environment
- Demonstrable high level technical capability on iSeries/Power i/AS400.
- Demonstrable experience of working in a complex enterprise-level iSeries/Power i/AS400 environment
