My industry leading Central Lancashire based client are looking for an Infrastructure Specialist to join their growing team. The Infrastructure Specialist will work as part of the IT function to provide technical leadership within the Infrastructure as well as be responsible for the proactive management, operation and maintenance of IT infrastructure services including Servers, SAN storage and Microsoft BackOffice products.

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Maintain, support & develop the IT Server Infrastructure
  • Maintain, support & develop backend systems. This includes technologies such as Active Directory, Storage Area Networks, Networks, backups, security etc.
  • Ensures that all requests from users for technical support and system changes are handled promptly and effectively and is pro-active to ensure that users make effective use of the facilities available to them.
  • Reviews and develops procedures and working practices for the efficient and effective running of all tasks associated with operating and controlling the installed hardware and software.
  • The Infrastructure Specialist will take a lead role in defining and maintaining the organisations IT standards in addition to providing technical guidance on a range of IT projects, working with technical partners and liaising with key stakeholders. The IT Technical Infrastructure Specialist will be required to be a technical leader, able to work autonomously and proactively, fulfilling a high standard of complex deliverables.
  • Analyse complex system requirements, taking into account user and business requirements and assist the Infrastructure Manager to appraise technical options by identifying and evaluating different solutions to meet a strategic need including risk appraisal
  • Communicate complex technical solutions with business areas as a technical consultant. Presenting information in a way that both technical and non-technical colleagues will understand and providing advice on existing alternatives to proposed new systems and technology
  • Within the team assist with problem investigation and other requests for support and determines appropriate actions to take as part of escalation support
  • Monitors progress of requests for support, and ensures staff and other interested parties are kept informed of progress and intended action. Takes corrective action to avoid or minimise delays.
  • Work in conjunction with the wider IT teams to assist in the delivery of IT solutions effectively, efficiently and in accordance with the scope of the project as directed by the Project Manager
  • Advise and support the Project Leader/Applications Manager on a broad range of technical and project tasks, highlighting issues, develop options based solutions and take appropriate actions to ensure successful results
  • Provide pre and post implementation support as required following an update or new release of a system / application
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining technical policies and procedures in compliance with technical and Capita standards
  • Provide technical support to all Users via remote access, telephone, email and face to face interaction and communication. Be able to work across all organisational boundaries, liaise with all sections within the IT department and where required with third party suppliers
