Capita are working in partnership with a London council to make sure their information security operational and compliance work is supported.

The ICT Security Officer will monitor of system activity, user activity and regular audits of security; Provide advice and guidance on all aspects of Information Security, ensuring that policies are correctly interpreted throughout the organisation

Responsibilities

  • Deliver corporate objectives through work in ICT.
  • Work with key stakeholders, residents and service users in improving service quality.
  • Ensure services are integrated at the point of delivery and to identify new opportunities for business efficiencies.
  • Participate in the Council's emergency planning and responses to emergency situations.
  • Maintain the publication of the corporate Information Security Policies, procedures and guidance documents.
  • Support the activities of the Information Management Framework Board (IMFB) and the Governance processes.
  • Manage the service desk requests to Information Security.
  • Support the Council in developing, managing, maintaining and reviewing good information management and data handling practices across the Council to ensure compliance.
  • Draft policies, procedures and guidance documents for review and approval and provide assistance to departmental managers in developing specific procedures.
  • Support compliance activities such as PEN tests, Audits, mandatory upgrades to systems and related items.
  • Design and deliver training and awareness in Information Security.

Experience

  • 2 years' working experience within ICT Security.
  • Working knowledge of risk assessment, change management, Information governance, project management, development and deployment methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of ICT including operating systems, networking protocols, cloud based solutions, and desktop applications.
  • Extensive level of knowledge of assurance mechanisms and frameworks such as ISO 27001 and other information security best practice.
  • Demonstrate practical application of the Data Protection Act, Human Rights & Computer Misuse Acts and other relevant legislation as well as investigation skills including evidence gathering and storage up to PACE standards.
  • Evidence of further formal study (desirable)
