ICT Network Support Manager £35-36k

A fantastic opportunity has risen for an ICT Network Support Manager to sustainably manage, develop and upgrade the network infrastructure at a School, based in Berkshire for a user base of circa 300 staff and learners.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for solving problems with technology and will be able to turn their hand to many aspects of networking and IT infrastructure. You will work within all areas of the School, from finance & back office to pupils, teachers and governors.

As an ICT Network Support Manager you will report into the Business Manager with your main responsibilities supporting all applications & any technical streams within the School.

Main responsibilities for the ICT Network Support Manager role:

  • Develop a medium and long-term strategy for the development and growth of ICT across all areas of the School monitoring and reviewing the plan as needed;
  • Develop and implement a technical strategy and associated system architecture that meets the needs of current ICT usage and future development needs to meet curriculum and administrative requirements;
  • Manage the ICT budget in line with management plans and ICT strategies and in consultation with The Senior Leadership Team (SLT);
  • Provide technical expertise and input to tender documentation for all current and future projects requiring services related to ICT;
  • Maintain continuity of services to ensure that the school can maintain normal operations by displaying a willingness and ability to work flexibly, sometimes outside of normal core hours;
  • Provide comprehensive management information and reports regarding service trends and incident analysis, using industry standard metrics;
  • Maintain an asset register of all ICT equipment, and to manage the repair, depreciation and upgrading of this equipment accordingly;
  • Maintain responsibility for the technical maintenance and development of SIMS and FMS; associated hardware and software (including e-data transfer), servers, security and back-up;
  • Ensure that staff have appropriate levels of access to SIMS and FMS and oversee the management of passwords and logins;
  • Provide training and technical support to end users with particular regards for SIMS and FMS hardware, software and modules, diagnose problems and provide solutions;
  • Liaise with the Local Authority (LA) 'help desk' support team in respect of technical faults to the SIMS and FMS, and initiate early contact in respect of faults/defects to associated hardware and software;
  • Attend LA systems manager meeting and INSET where appropriate updating SLT of news and developments as appropriate;
  • Work closely with key personnel to provide effective and efficient SIMS and FMS usage/access;
  • Manage crisis situations, involving complex technical hardware or software problems that require flexible working.

Essential skills and experience for the ICT Network Support Manager role:

  • Hands on Networking Experience including, switching, routing, Wi-Fi and Fibre Optic cabling
  • Expert knowledge of Windows Server administration and management as well as being able to configure the server hardware;
  • Expert knowledge of Active Directory including Group Policy;
  • Knowledge and experience of Anti-Virus software;
  • Knowledge and experience of Virtualisation using Hyper-V;
  • Knowledge of terminals/remote access;
  • Highly desirable would be previous experience of working with Capita SIMS software.
