Field Service Engineer - South West - £26k + Car and Benefits

Location: Field Based - South-West Region (Such as Devon, Cornwall etc.)
Shift work and flexibility to work on 24/7 'On Call Rota' requirement
Valid UK Driving licence


The 'Field Service Engineer' will join an established service support team based in the relevant geographic area looking after Communications Command and Control systems, infrastructure and terminals. The primary focus of the roles is to provide an effective response to requests for service, Incident, change, configuration and Problem management activities. The role will involve working in varied environments including Emergency Control rooms, Server rooms and Emergency Service vehicles.


What you will do:

  • To provide first line service support for a range of communications equipment currently deployed within the Emergency Services customer base. The equipment is located within Emergency Services control rooms and within Emergency Services vehicles
  • Incident and Problem Management
  • Change and Release Management
  • Configuration Management
  • Internal Staff Liaison
  • Third Party Management
  • The Field Services Engineer shall follow ISO 20000 best practice processes.
  • Self-management responsibility for asset tracking and management - to ensure an adequate supply of spare equipment is maintained within the region.
  • Accurate and effective completion of service related documentation
  • Self-sufficient and able to work on his own initiative, they will be required to be articulate and able to communicate with customers at all levels.
  • On site diagnosis, repair and maintenance of all supported communication systems - hardware/software. Including - Integrated Communication Control Systems (ICCS),Touch Screen PC based Operator Positions, Servers, Switches, Routers and PABX

  • IP Networking; Firewalls; Cisco routers and switching
  • Information Security;
  • DS2000
  • PABX (Nortel/Siemens/Panasonic)
  • Network Management
  • DVR (NICE/RedBox)
  • Microsoft product knowledge
  • CCNA; MCSE Certified; MCP Certified; ITIL Certified; Nortel accredited
  • Degree Educated or Equivalent
