Lead Developer

Based in Manchester, my client specialise in Creative Tech and Production for direct and agency clients within the music industry. In the last 2 years, they have delivered 100+ projects ranging from socially charged apps and sites to complex server-side builds.
They are currently working on projects that use multiple technologies and integrate several APIs as well as content creation, design and animation. At home delivering on standard technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, JS, PHP & Content Management Systems as and working with more specialist technologies e.g. ReactJS & React Native, NodeJS, Laravel, HTML5 Canvas, WebGL, AR and VR.
The client are looking for a lead developer with A Front End focus to join their experienced team on a permanent basis to help deliver some very high-profile projects for some of the world's biggest music artists and brands.
The right person will thrive on the challenge of complex and innovative digital projects working across multiple platforms.
You'll have a wide range of hands-on technical abilities, ideally combined with good communication skills and the determination to overcome whatever technical challenges arise along the way.
Most importantly, you will possess the motivation to take ownership of solutions and deliver great quality of work on time with minimal bugs.
The ideal candidate will be someone who enjoys technology and is always learning and keeping up with the latest web/tech developments.

  • A minimum of 3 years digital agency experience (or equivalent)
  • Responsive website development
  • Experience with HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript
  • Experience with PHP & MySQL
  • Experience with content management system; both open source and established.
  • Experience with Linux as a command-line interface
  • Experience with version control e.g. Gitlab, GitHub
  • Experience of Sketch, Photoshop and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience of using industry standard social APIs e.g. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Google Maps.
  • An understanding of server side deployments
  • Diligence to comment your code as a courtesy for other developers to follow
  • To work with colleague to harbour great
  • Ability to be able to test the build and bug fix before handing over to the test team
  • Comfortable at writing own developer plans and hitting delivery deadlines


  • Experience writing standards compliant code to WCAG 2.0
  • Experience with MVC JavaScript frameworks, such as Angular/React JS and new JavaScript standards such as ES6 & ES2016
  • CSS scripting frameworks (e.g. LESS, SASS/SCSS)
  • JavaScript task-runners (e.g. Grunt, Gulp, Bower, Node.js)
  • Advanced knowledge of PHP to build REST API applications
  • Ability to write technical specifications and documentation as required

  • Interest in new coding methods and the digital medium as a whole
  • Ability to work within a team of developers and be mentored by the senior developer team
  • Ability to build to scope instructions
