Delivery Manager

As the Delivery Manager, you will manage one or more agile projects, typically to deliver a specific set of changes to the client's product via a multi-disciplinary, highly skilled shared team. As the Delivery Manager, you'll be adept at delivering projects, planning at a higher level and getting into the detail to make things happen when needed. You will be comfortable reporting to internal and external clients as well as all levels of management.

Through release planning you will balance the pipeline of work against available resources, ensuring timely delivery of the assigned project(s). You will be core to decisions that build high performing teams, where people are excited about the work they are undertaking.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver project releases using appropriate agile methodology, learning & iterating frequently whilst ensuring the support of key stakeholders
  • Lead the collaborative, dynamic planning process - prioritising the work that needs to be done against the capacity and capability of the team
  • Ensure all products are built to a robust level of quality within the allocated time/budget
  • Actively participating in the broader delivery team, sharing and re-applying skills and knowledge and bringing in best practice
  • Overseeing the Release through to Production deployment
COMPETENCES/SKILLS:

Essential

  • Collaborative approach to working
  • Experience of SDLC and agile methodology
  • Strong estimation and budget scoping skills
  • Provide constructive challenge to requested changes / release content as appropriate
  • Spot warning signs of things going wrong and provide a decisive response to delivery challenges
  • Analyse and evaluate pros and cons and identify risks in order to make decisions that take account of the wider context
  • Good at prioritising time-critical work
  • Identify the main issues in complex problems, clarify understanding or stakeholder expectations, to seek best option
  • Make difficult decisions by pragmatically weighing the complexities involved vs. the need to act
  • Push decision making to the right level within their teams, not allow unnecessary bureaucracy and structure to suppress innovation and delivery
  • Get the best out of people by giving enthusiastic and encouraging messages about priorities, objectives and expectations
  • Confidently engage with stakeholders and colleagues at all levels to generate commitment to goals
