We are Recruiting for a Data Architect on behalf of a large Organisation in Barrow on an initial 6 month contract, paying up to £595 a day Ltd/Umbrella .

Duties include:

  • Define, design and governance of data architecture through analyzing client operations, applications, and programming; reviewing objectives with clients; evaluating current systems;
  • Develop database standards for designing proposed systems; defining database physical structure and functional capabilities, security, back-up, and recovery specifications.
  • Define and document data and database processes and policies
  • Develop standards for database performance which help to identify and resolve production and application development problems; calculating optimum values for parameters; evaluating, integrating, and installing new releases / completing maintenance.
  • Be the subject matter expert and provide mentoring to the team in relation to technologies and skills.
  • Develop database support and implement coding utilities which allow efficient resolution of problems.
  • Provide governance in relation to data security, compliance and standards.
  • Periodically review data architecture to ensure alignment with corporate strategy and roadmaps.
  • Play a lead role in the development of overall data and BI strategies, for both internal and external customers.

About you

  • Proven work experience as a Data Architect, Data Scientist, or similar role
  • In-depth understanding of database ETL using Microsoft or similar technologies
  • Experience gathering and analyzing system requirements
  • Knowledge of data warehousing and segmentation techniques
  • Commercial experience of working with cloud data technologies in Azure inc. SQL and Oracle
  • Experience of working with big data platforms
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g. PowerBI, Tableau, D3.js and R)
  • Proven analytical skills
  • Good understanding of integration technologies such as web services, middleware etc
  • Knowledge of TOGAF and ITIL best practice
  • Qualifications in Computer Science or relevant field
