Consulting .Net Developer

Salary - £55,000pa - £65,000pa

Location - Coventry (2/3 days Remote working)

The Consulting .Net Developer is a specialist customer-facing role with strong communication skills, responsible for technical aspects of projects delivery.

Utilising their broad knowledge of software development patterns and practices, the successful Consulting .Net Developer will be able to evangelise technology, manage and communicate risk, and lead a delivery team. With strong commercial awareness, the successful candidate will demonstrate an aptitude for managing customer and team relationships, developing a reputation as a safe pair of hands in whom to entrust delivery.

The candidate must be highly flexible with a willingness to problem-solve, challenge the status-quo, and think on their feet, with a track record of learning new development techniques, frameworks, and languages quickly.


The main responsibilities are detailed below, although the successful candidate would also be expected to perform any other duties which might reasonably be required by the business.

A Consulting .Net Developer will:

  • Effectively communicate with a wide range of project roles including sales, architecture, project management, UX design, test, and support
  • Create, present, and discuss ideas in oral, pictorial, and written form, collaboratively developing reference architecture designs, business cases, and software documentation
  • Identify, explore, and develop reusable assets across both manual processes and technology
  • Articulate the benefits of different delivery approaches (Waterfall, various flavours of Agile), able to challenge or defend the use of each
  • Demonstrate expertise in software development languages across the Microsoft stack, developing a reputation as an approachable resource for customers and internal staff alike
  • Support the pre-sales process by contributing to bids or statements of work, either directly or through peer review
  • Possess excellent time management and prioritisation skills
  • Work independently or as a lead team member, as circumstances require

Knowledge and experience of:

  • Application Development Life Cycle and Development Best Practices
  • Web Development and design, including experience with ASP.NET MVC, C#, WCF, Web API, Entity Framework, HTML, CSS, and at least one JavaScript UI framework (Backbone, Knockout, Angular, etc)
  • Azure PaaS services and the migration of application services to them (App Service Plans, Functions)
  • Proficient with Visual Studio, Azure SDK and Source Control (VSTS/Git)
  • Experience of SQL development, including T-SQL and stored procedures
  • OAuth and claims-based authentication / authorisation
  • Agile and waterfall project experience


  • Proven consultancy experience within a similar role
  • Excellence and attention to detail in oral, pictorial, and written communication
  • Proven ability to lead an engagement, small workshops or present to a technical audience
  • Able to deal with customers/suppliers/peers at all levels in a professional manner
  • The ability to prioritise effectively, both with their own workload and within a small team
  • The ability to use initiative to solve problems
