Governance Manager required by our leading NHS trust in (Tooting) London
Divisional Director of Nursing and Governance, Clinical Directors, General Managers, Head of Nursing, Matrons, Care Group Leads, Heads of Service, Divisional HR, Governance and Finance Leads and own governance team
3-6 months in-Scope of IR35
Job Summary:

  • The post holder will work closely with the Divisional Director of Nursing in leading the clinical governance agenda within the Division. They are responsible for the co- ordination of clinical governance procedures and frameworks within CWDT Division.

  • The post holder will manage the clinical governance team in the further development of robust systems and processes throughout the Division in relation to clinical governance and quality, which underpins safe clinical practice. The role encompasses risk management, patient experience, clinical audit and clinical effectiveness programmes.

  • The post holder will provide leadership, guidance and expertise within the wider multi-professional team for clinical governance and risk management. This will include putting in place strategies and framework that ensure the Division meets the Trust and NHS Resolution standards for clinical governance.



Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • This is a senior role within the Division. The post holder is responsible for ensuring governance and risk systems are in place across the Directorate. To work closely with the Trust Corporate Risk team, Director of Nursing, Divisional Chair and Divisional Director of Operations to ensure effective communication systems are in place.

  • The post holder will work closely with the senior nursing and medical staff to ensure excellent standards of care and take responsibility for the environment, robust infection control practices, high standards of cleanliness and compliance with national and local standards.

  • The overall focus of the post is the continuing development of a seamless clinical governance and risk management strategy which fosters multidisciplinary working across the division.

  • To act as a specialist in the field of risk and ensure the national recommendations are adhered to.

  • Oversee and ensure accuracy and completion of monthly, quarterly and yearly reports for the division

  • The post holder will support staff within the division to deliver high quality services to patients and their families. They will be integral member of the divisional team.



  • Ensure there is a governance plan in place to monitor the completion of action plans associated with the CQC, serious incidents, claims, incidents, inquests or other investigations and that these remain embedded within the Division.



  • Lead and manage the divisional clinical governance team

  • In conjunction with the Division senior team ensure the effective implementation of a comprehensive and systematic approach to clinical governance.



Skills and experience required:

  • Education to a master's level or have the relevant significant experience to that level
  • Up to date knowledge of Clinical Governance framework
  • Significant experience in risk management, practice development and audit
  • Experience with the Data Risk Management system (DATIX)
  • Minimum of 3 years management experience in a senior role
  • Proven and evidenced management skills
  • Evidence of quality and service improvement
  • Experience working in NHS environment
  • Involved in leading audit and participating in research activities
  • Ability to influence others and manage change
  • Previous experience of managing a team of staff
  • Registered Nurse or AHP (Desirable)
