One of the world's largest newspapers is looking for a Big Data Analyst to join them in creating data products with a commercial focus that have a direct impact on the performance of the business. They are looking for someone to evolve their Big Data technologies and advance the overall data proposition. As a Big Data Analyst, you will gain an understanding of ad-tech platforms and how to combine datasets to produce new sources of revenue.

Responsibilities:

  • Be a subject expert for the Big Data infrastructure and build on this with new products
  • Gather an understanding of the global data management platform and how the data can be used in understanding user behaviour.
  • Support on data processing and ETL.
  • Provide frameworks for testing and data validation.
  • Work with BI teams to provide the best data insights.
  • Investigate the value of data advertisers.



Must have skills:

  • Degree in Computer Science or similar subject
  • Object-oriented programming (Java, Python, C#)
  • Understanding of relational databases and SQL



Preferred skills:

  • Spark, Hadoop MapReduce or similar Big Data technologies
  • ETL and data extraction form APIs
  • Code management tools (Git, sbt, Maven)
  • Knowledge of data visualisation
  • Amazon Web Services
  • Scala
  • R or SPSS (or similar analytics tools)
