BI Developer / MI Analyst & Data Manager

This role will involve a lot of travelling across the UK but you will be based at our prestigious offices situated at the Trafford Centre!

BI Developer / MI Analyst & Data Manager Role

The Divisional team supports a wide range of businesses located across England and Northern Ireland, totalling over 8,000 staff. This small agile team are responsible for supporting the identification of opportunities and offering solutions, along with helping support the MI specification and collation over more than a dozen varied businesses with differing needs.

As a roving Divisional team, we'll also be supplementing the businesses in helping them access and interpret data, to offer insight and analysis, through an alternative lens. This data mining activity will add additional value to these businesses as we offer insight in areas of analysis that will have proved problematic to access previously.

The team will also be responsible for supporting growth opportunities, analysing data within tender documentation to support qualification processes and moreover ensuring the MI for any new business initiative is appropriately structured for go-live. This is a fast-paced role with lots of variety and challenge, along with fantastic future career prospects.

Requirements gathering

· Able to insightfully draw out reporting / data needs from business stakeholders

· Clearly and unambiguously documents requirements in a format that is easy for others to understand

Data provision

· Provide datasets for MI analysts to use in BAU MI reporting / Ad Hoc analysis

· Responsible for MI data processes (e.g. Data Incident procedures / Data quality investigations)

Data development

· Identify new sources of data or more efficient uses of data both inside & outside of DWH

· Monitoring the data environment and providing support / education MI colleagues to ensure best practice is in place

· Responsible for design & implementing robust data testing & validation

Project support

· Submit Data Requirements to Change teams / projects as required

· Conducting Impact Assessments for Change projects

· Sign-off responsibilities

BI Developer / MI Analyst & Data Manger Accountabilities

  • The MI Developer / Data Manager role is a senior position.
  • The post-holder will work with the wider Divisional Improvement Team and senior stakeholders across Government Services to ensure MI development meets the level & quality required by our businesses to improve their service offering
  • Data provisioning to support MI & reporting is critical in measuring and driving operational efficiency is an ongoing business goal. The MI Developer / Data Manager will be able to draw upon their niche experience to identify robust data solutions to common MI reporting challenges.
  • Act as custodian of divisional reporting, the post-holder will contribute to development plans and assessment of DWH needs to be relevant to business needs. The post-holder will be responsible for ensuring that robust data testing & validation processes are in place to achieve this.
  • The post-holder will be actively involved in sourcing new datasets into the DWH where there is a reporting need or a business requirement to manage. This will involve reviewing source systems to understand how data is captured and therefore how it should be used for MI and analysis purposes.
  • The post-holder will provide leadership on data issues; including the education and development of less experienced team members.
