You will join a part of Capita that provide the infrastructure, services and expertise through which assets are secured or deployed.

Key tasks
* Work with key business users and the product owner to identify the requirements and draw a set of relevant acceptance criteria
* Conduct an exploratory testing to assess the scope of the testing to conduct.
* Communicate with the other members of the project team (including Developers, Business Analysts, and User experience developers) to define the user acceptance tests.
* Define a test protocol/scenario and document the outcome in an accessible way for the benefit of the members of the project team and the release manager.
* Develop and maintain automated tests according to the aforementioned protocol and scenarios. The tests have to cover all the fields of functional and non-functional testing (performance, security, usability, accessibility) when necessary.
* Document the technical details of the resulting code for the benefit of other QAs.
* Pair up with developers to allow the following exchanges of skills to occur:
* Bring their "eye for quality" and critical mind-set to counteract the common positive bias that developers have for their own work.
* Learn better programming techniques from skilled individuals.
* And finally, when possible, bring new testing methods to the developer and raising awareness for coding-for-testability. Use TDD and BDD when appropriate.
* Participate in demos, show-and-tells and sign-off sessions with the stakeholders and track the outcome of the session.
* Maintain the QA infrastructure, by:
* Fixing defective (flaky, false negatives) automated tests,
* Refactoring legacy or inefficient tests,
* Participating in the upgrading of the test tool chain,
* Documenting legacy tests when encountered.
* Measuring the improvements that these tasks above have brought and report to the Practice Lead.
* Upon discovery of a defect, evaluate its impact and follow the appropriate escalation procedure to ensure a proportionate response and satisfactory resolution.
* Participate to the release process as the QA on duty and represent the team in some meetings on a rota basis.
