Role: Test Analyst
Primary purpose of the role: to lead, or help to lead, and/or design and execute testing delivery of the testing requirements of a range of projects across the Business Solutions Team
Key responsibilities

  • Lead, or help to lead, or test the delivery of testing (planning, preparation and execution) of systems and processes in accordance with the solution and / or techical, functional, non-functional or business requirements (as appropriate) of any project assigned, to achieve successful deliveries of project / test items (measured against agreed acceptance criteria).
  • Attend regular scheduled project meetings, internal and client facing as appropriate, to ensure test activites remain informed and plans/schedules/resource profiles remain aligned.
  • Ensure consistent use of relevant testing software including test tools and test and defect management software (ALM and others as appropriate), to agreed standards and processes
  • Work with colleagues to identify and recommend suitable process improvements to the Test Lead and help embed them in the team once agreed .
  • Produce, issue and maintain test management control documentation required for the effective planning, execution and sign-off test activities
  • Adhere to approved test management work instructions and control documentation and assist the Test Lead to review/audit and monitor the adherence of other testers to the same
  • Liaise with all directors, managers, staff, clients and third parties affected by or involved in the project and escalate risks and issues to the Test Lead (if utilised) and/or the Test and/or Project Manager where they cannot be appropriately resolved
  • Support and assist the Test Lead to manage a team of testers including contributing development by coaching more junior staff to support their own and department objectives.
  • Adhere to the Transition and Change Test Policy, identifying areas of conflict or scope creep within particular projects for escalation and discussion.
  • Responsible for the timely provision of consistent MI/reporting (where no Test Lead is utilised) relating to all test activities (progress against the agreed plan, variances between planned and actual effort/duration, defect summary and highlighting any risks or issues affecting the progress or completion of the testing requirement for the project) for dissemination to internal and external stakeholders, to ensure full visibility of test activities is achieved at all times
  • Make recommendations to the Test Manager (where no Test Lead is utilised) for Testing sign-offs and recommendations to Go / No-Go meetings
  • Undertake internal, external and on-the-job training to enable performance in the role at the required level including active participation in the company's performance management process
  • Perform duties efficiently and accurately within specified timescales in accordance with the work requirement (this may include performing other duties occasionally, working outside normal office hours or working away from the normal work location when reasonably requested by the management)

  • Document test plans and evidencing execution
  • Write and peer review test coverage and scripts
  • Risk based prioritisation of test execution and ensuring test execution is evidenced
  • Text execution and evidencing
  • Schedule work for other Test Analysts (level 1 and level 2) as required by the Test Lead
  • Report progress to project and line management as required detailing the progress of testing against the agreed test plan and highlighting any risks or issues affecting the planning, execution and sign-off of the testing requirement for the project
  • Record time accurately in the time recording system
