Capita IT Resourcing is currently recruiting for Application Support Consultants to join our client based in Chippenham. Candidates will join an existing team where no two days' work is are the same. You will be given exposure to many aspects of IT ranging from Operating Systems and RDBMS support through to networking for VPNs. The team has many functions including providing ad hoc support to all customers, a Managed Service for a subset of these, Application and DBA support for our SaaS solution. The team will soon be expanding their coverage to include the MS Azure platform so this will be a great opportunity for new joiners to gain experience in this new area.

Essential experience:

  • Previous experience in an external customer-focused environment
  • 2nd line application support experience
  • Use of Linux or Unix command line
  • Creation of scripts in any of the following: BASH, PowerShell, Ruby or Puppet
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to occasionally work evenings and weekends for scheduled work
  • Good organisational skills
  • Willingness to learn new skills on to the go
  • Keen interest in Cloud technologies in general and, ideally, the MS Azure platform

Desirable experience:

  • SQL or RDBMS administration experience
  • Citrix / RDS / VDI experience
  • Basic understanding of networking and VPNs
