An Application Support Analyst is required to join a multinational client of mine based in Reading. They focus on developing bespoke software solutions and services to both public and private sector organisations taking pride in the services that they provide. Their aim is to ensure that their customer's assets and resources are at optimum efficiency.


You will be responsible for supporting applications for a number of their clients using Microsoft products, in particular MS Dynamics CRM, MS SharePoint and .NET. You will join an existing team providing support for these applications. The role will include 2nd and 3rd line support activities, design, development, configuration and testing of applications and the use of ITIL based processes to manage Incident, Problem, Change, Configuration and Implementation of software.


  • Providing technical input into bid submissions for new .Net and CRM projects
  • Assist with system architecture and technical design of new .Net and CRM projects after contracts have been assigned
  • Support CRM configuration, custom and SharePoint development to new and existing solutions in order to meet business requirements being able to read the code and apply bug fixes as necessary
  • Liaise with affected Users, other IT support teams, business areas and third parties in the investigation, resolution and escalation of problems & incidents ensuring that all OLAs & SLAs are met
  • Create and maintain technical documentation relating to the system design of CRM and other applications under the responsibility of the Application Support Team
  • Apply software patches, upgrades and deploy new versions of the application
  • Follow agreed change control procedures
  • Carry out daily checks on high risk areas of the application
  • Complete impact assessments for any changes to production instances
  • Provide support out of normal office hours as and when required
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to less experienced colleagues
  • Identify new working methods, initiatives and technologies to improve the level of service provided by the team to both the business and other IT support teams

Core Competencies

  • Eligible for SC Clearance
  • Has experience supporting and/or developing in Microsoft environments
  • Proactive approach to problem solving and service improvement
  • Ability to liaise effectively with clients and other support teams
  • Good planning and organisational skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work towards challenging deadlines
  • Experience in IT with the majority in application support
  • ITIL Foundation qualification
  • Proficient in one or more of the Microsoft Desirable Skills below
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Ideally experience of some of Microsoft OR Sharepoint OR & OR Visual Studio OR Microsoft dynamics


  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Experience in one or more of :-
    • Microsoft Dynamics CRM
    • Microsoft SharePoint
    • Microsoft Windows Server
    • SQL Server
  • Single and Multi-tier systems
  • Database/application backup and recovery, including disaster recovery
  • Performance monitoring and tuning
