Job Purpose

You will be responsible for the development of both brownfield and greenfield applications. We will need your knowledge and mentoring skills to guide the team along our product roadmap, ensuring good code is a ritual.

Facts and Figures

You will be working as part of a team of 6-8 developers based in Manchester, contributing to a product portfolio worth around £14.5 million per year in revenue. You will be collaborating with a team of colleagues based in our Vienna office as well, making for a very good, knowledge sharing environment.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Share information effectively with other technical staff and project teams.
  • Understand and analyze requirements, seeking clarification as necessary.
  • Communicate problems appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Identify and consult subject matter experts as required.
  • Create clear documentation, guides and commented code.
  • Carry out application development, according to specification, and in line with development/coding standards.
  • Carry out software maintenance in response to testing feedback and bug reports.
  • Efficiently manage your workload and accurately record your time using the company timesheet system.
  • To freely share software development knowledge, insight, best practice and ideas.
  • Work appropriately, according to defined processes and procedures.
  • Identify and communicate opportunities for improvement in applications development.
  • Set appropriate deadlines, and strive to achieve them.

Key Contacts and Relationships

  • Developers - working with them in a learning capacity, building your knowledge and experience
  • Database Developers - liaising on tasks related to applications
  • Technical Support Analysts - liaising on service tickets, carrying out ADHOC maintenance or other miscellaneous work
  • Product Manager - liaising on project specification and progress, product quality and performance.

Knowledge, Experience and Skills

  • Visual Studio, C#.NET, ASP.NET, .NET Core experience
  • WebAPI, MicroServices experience
  • HTML5, CSS and JavaScript/TypeScript experience
  • Angular, Backbone, jQuery experience
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft SQL and data access
  • Strong understanding of software architecture principles
  • Experience in requirements capture and documentation
  • Source control experience in DVCS such as GIT or Mercurial
