We are Recruiting for a 3rd Line Infrastructure Engineer for a Technology organisation in Chorley on an initial 6 month contract, paying between £250 - £300 a day Ltd/ Umbrella.

The solution ranges from large multi-node SQL Server databases, load balanced web applications and web services with thousands of data collection devices, touch screen kiosks, mobile applications and embedded vehicle systems out in the field.

What you will do

  • Maintain, support & develop the IT Server Infrastructure
  • Maintain, support & develop backend systems . This includes technologies such as Active Directory, Storage Area Networks, Networks, backups, security etc.
  • Ensures that all requests from users for technical support and system changes are handled promptly and effectively and is pro-active to ensure that users make effective use of the facilities available to them.
  • Reviews and develops procedures and working practices for the efficient and effective running of all tasks associated with operating and controlling the installed hardware and software.
  • Take a lead role in defining and maintaining the organisations IT standards in addition to providing technical guidance on a range of IT projects, working with technical partners and liaising with key stakeholders.
  • Analyse complex system requirements, taking into account user and business requirements and assist the Infrastructure Manager to appraise technical options by identifying and evaluating different solutions to meet a strategic need including risk appraisal
  • Communicate complex technical solutions with business areas as a technical consultant. Presenting information in a way that both technical and non-technical colleagues will understand and providing advice on existing alternatives to proposed new systems and technology
  • Within the team assist with problem investigation and other requests for support and determines appropriate actions to take as part of escalation support
  • Monitors progress of requests for support, and ensures staff and other interested parties are kept informed of progress and intended action. Takes corrective action to avoid or minimise delays.
  • Advise and support the Project Leader/Applications Manager on a broad range of technical and project tasks, highlighting issues, develop options based solutions and take appropriate actions to ensure successful results
  • Provide pre and post implementation support as required following an update or new release of a system / application
  • Liaise with system suppliers as necessary

Your Experience Will Include:

  • Proven experience of Infrastructure and 3rd Line Support in a commercial IT environment.
  • Extensive experience of designing and implementing complex Infrastructure solutions.
  • Experience of working with and configuring SAN's and Fibre Channel switches.
  • Experience of working with and configuring VMWare Virtualised Environments including servers and desktops.
  • Experience of working with and configuring MS Active Directory, Office 365, Windows Server.

Desired Skills

  • Experience of delivering services using the Public Cloud.
  • MCP/MCSE Certifications
  • Seeking applicants that are flexible on working hours and happy to travel.
