2nd Line / 3rd Line Support Engineer, 24x7 - £36k

Capita IT Resourcing is currently recruiting for a 2nd Line / 3rd Line Support Engineer to join our client, a leading IT Solutions Provider, on a permanent basis. Our client operates a 24x7 service support model and the successful candidate will join on a shift pattern of 4 days on, 4 days off, 4 nights on, 4 days off for a repeated shift pattern covering an average working week of 38.5 hours. The salary offered includes a 20% uplift to cover the unsociable hours.

The successful candidate will be able to utilise Server, Desktop, Active Directory and Networking skills to deliver unique solutions with a hands-on approach. We are seeking independent, problem solvers who can provide a mixture of 1st, 2nd and 3rd line service desk/remote support to the growing customer base, working closely with engineers from the Platforms, Infrastructure and Internet Services teams.

Key skills and experience for the 2nd Line / 3rd Line Support Engineer role:

- Microsoft Desktop & Office systems
- Microsoft Server and Virtualisation technologies
- Active Directory security and administration including Group Policy Object (GPO)
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP
- Support of harware, printers, desktops and servers
- Email, Antivirus, Web-filtering and Backup software
- Networking knowledge regarding WAN, LAN, VLAN, VPN, WLAN, layer 2/3 switching, firewalls and routers
- Mobile devices/phones
- A Microsoft Server MCP Exam would be preferred

Key qualities for the 2nd Line / 3rd Line Support Engineer role:

- Excellent technical and communication skills
- A can-do attitude with strong customer services skills
- A calm and patient manner whilst working under pressure
- Previous experience working in a service desk role, either with a service provider or within a corporate environment
