How to go from graduate to Project Management Office (PMO) in 3 simple steps

Deciding what to do after university is no easy task, especially with the myriad of graduate programmes available. So how do you decide which route is right for you? And how do you know if you’ll have a real job at the end of it? At Capita IT Resourcing, we’ve created our IT Skills and Development Programme ‘Novus’ to make it as simple as possible for you to get started in your chosen career right away. Here’s how it works in three simple steps:

Step one: Get ready to apply

If you’re looking for somewhere to grow your communication skills at the same time as learning about IT, you could be very well suited to our Project Management Office (PMO) programme. A PMO works in the Project Management department and is responsible for ensuring a project keeps to the budget, remains on schedule and that staff are working as efficiently as possible. Our application process is really easy and takes you through telephone interview and assessment centre to help us both make sure this is the right path for you.

Step two: Initial training

The programme begins with 8-16 weeks of exclusive training, supported by the British Computer Society’s IT skills framework. Focused on the newest and most relevant industry methodologies it will give you everything you need to become a PMO. You’ll also receive a training bursary for this, so it won’t cost you a thing!

Step three: Real experience

Even when the training’s finished, you’ll be able to keep learning. You’ll have the opportunity to work for Capita for up to two years. During this time, you’ll be given continuous opportunities for professional development with certificates. From there, it’s up to you to take every opportunity to make your desired impact on the IT industry.
