Case study: Utilities company

A well known utilities company approached us to recruit software developers and test analysts to backfill their existing development and testing teams, but did not have the time and resources to recruit for these roles.

They also required specific testing skill sets including automation skills, making the search process for candidates challenging.

Capita's Novus programme provided the answer. The Novus programme trains UK STEM and IT graduates in the latest IT skills to become the next generation of test analysts, software developers, and IT business analysts.

Our approach

Triggered by interest in our Novus programme, the client chose Capita due to our reputation in the marketplace as a leading supplier to both central and local government. Optimising our Novus model, we were selected to deliver a time saving resourcing solution with the necessary skill set.

Based on their criteria, we shortlisted several Novus to be interviewed ensuring each possessed the required technical and professional skills. During the final interview stage, we established a requirement to adapt our training to match their specific requirements, ensuring each Novus was ready to hit the ground running.

Successful candidates were quickly onboard and ready to start work on the programme. Our dedicated delivery directors were in regular contact with both the Novus and the client, to facilitate a smooth transition and rectify any issues immediately.

Results and benefits

Having impressed the client with the quality of our Novus, we were also able to adapt the training and include a module on Odin’s Axe, an automation platform offering both cost and time savings when aligned with our Novus programme.

Overall our client experienced a significant cost saving in their test automation processes by using Novus. They received a low cost, effective testing and development service that had the drive to succeed.
